Happy 4th Birthday AYMN!
The Australian Youth Mentoring Network turned 4 on 9th March 2010. During our 4 years, the AYMN has grown to support over 260 organisations and 1,500 individuals. We have trained 350 new program coordinators and 250 mentors. We've had over 350,000 website visitors who have viewed almost 1,000,000 pages! This year we are excited to be hosting the first national youth mentoring conference in Australia since 2004! The conference will be held in November so keep your eye out for more announcements shortly. Thank you to everyone who have supported us and for your continued support.  


Victorian Volunteer of the Year Awards

8 Principles for Managing Mentors
The Australian Youth Mentoring Network has produced a fact sheet which provides practitioners with 8 simple prinicples to follow to adequately support mentors in order to retain a high quality pool of volunteers. Research has shown that mentors who are supported throughout the mentoring relationship by the program are retained for longer and their skill levels improve, therefore providing better support to their young people. Announcing the Australian Youth Mentoring Conference
The Australian Youth Mentoring Network is proud to announce that it will be holding the Australian Youth Mentoring Conference, in partnership with the Youth Mentoring Network, New Zealand. The conference will be held annually and the venue will alternate between Australia and New Zealand. Keep an eye on our website in early 2010 when we will call for working parties and abstracts in preparation for the Youth Mentoring Conference, which is expected to be held in Spring 2010.  


Mentoring Matters! AYMN launches its latest report
The Australian Youth Mentoring Network is launching our latest report, Mentoring Matters: The State of Play of AYMN Registered Programs National Survey Findings 2009. The report provides a brief overview and comment about the state of play of youth mentoring programs that were registered with the Australian Youth Mentoring Network as at July-August 2009. Thank You for Helping to Celebrate Youth Mentoring Week!
The inaugural Youth Mentoring Week was held from 25 October 2009 to 31 October 2009.  Youth mentoring  programs joined in the celebrations which included festivals in parks, visiting zoos, dinners, morning teas and BBQs. On behalf of the AYMN team we would like to say thank you to everyone who helped make Youth Mentoring Week such a success.  All you need to do now is send us your photos and your good news stories about how your event went.
