    AMP-SW Mentoring Programme South West

    WA Type of Program: One to One
    Location: Bunbury
    AMP-SW target group is young people (12-25yrs) who have a disability and live in the South West of Western Australia. The programme provides one-on-one mentoring services and activities aimed at assisting young people to build their self esteem, improve relationships with their family and peers and also improve their engagement with education, training, the workplace and the community. In collaboration with service providers and families, mentors will work with each participant to establish an action plan specific to their individual needs. [ more info... ]

    Big Brothers Big Sisters

    WA Type of Program: One to One
    Location: LEEDERVILLE
    The Big Brothers Big Sisters Program (BBBS) is based on the development of a long term supportive one-to-one friendship between an adult volunteer and a young person aged 7-17 years. Through this relationship, the mentor assists the young person in developing a positive self image, self confidence and the ability to make appropriate decisions affecting their lives. the program aims to promote the positive development of young people and to prevent the problems experienced by young people from escalating.     Curtin Student Mentor Program

    WA Type of Program: Group
    Location: Perth
    Curtin University's Mentor Program invites senior students to act as a guide and adviser to new students in the same course (or in a similar or related course) during their initial period of adjustment to university. The objective is to assist new students to become independent learners in a new environment. Mentors are not expected to be a teacher, proofread assignments, solve all problems, or be on call.     WA Type of Program: One to One, E-Mentoring
    Location: Perth
    Through our Learning for Life suite of programs The Smith Family helps students from disadvantaged families participate more fully in society through engaging more fully in the education process. The suite of programs include scholarships, personal support, and personal development programs. iTrack fits in the personal support area and aims to assist students to stay engaged in their education by exploring future study and career options.     JYSS Mentoring Program

    WA Type of Program: One to One
    Location: Joondalup
    The JYSS Mentoring Program is a complimentary, voluntary program that provides an opportunity to clients who are already accessing the agency’s services. The program is of most benefit to young people who are disengaged from mainstream services, family and or their local community. The mentoring relationships focuses on building the resiliency of these young people, by demonstrating healthy relationships in action and the enjoyment of life through positive active community engagement.     Kwinana Youth Mentoring Program

    WA Type of Program: One to One, Group, Peer
    Location: Kwinana
    The program will be, at its core, a one to one mentoring program, with a number of linked programs and opportunities. Young people aged 10-14 will be mentored by young people aged 15-18; whilst young people aged 15-18 are mentored by adults (ages 18+). In addition, there will be opportunities created for group and peer mentoring to occur through: • Mentor-mentee group activities every two months/quarter • Options for the pair to be involved in community projects, or form their own projects • Monthly up-skilling workshops for mentors and mentees alike.     Youth Focus' Mentoring Program supports young people aged 14-18 years who are showing early warning signs associated with suicide, depression and self harm. Mentors engage in a 9 week training program, are police screened and are matched with a young person based on their interests, gender, location and their ability to help meet the needs of the young person.     ROADS Mentor Support Network

    WA Type of Program: One to One
    Location: East Perth
    The Roads Foundation has been established to address workforce shortages in the civil construction industry as well as address regional youth disadvantage by developing, coordinating and facilitating traineeship programmes for regional young people in civil construction. The Roads programme provides ‘job ready’ trainees that have the necessary supports to ensure that they complete their traineeships. The Roads Mentor Network provides some of this ongoing support to ensure that the young person is able to remain in their traineeship through to successful completion. [ more info... ]

    Tertiary Mentoring Program

    WA Type of Program: One to One
    Location: Perth
    The Smith Family's tertiary 'Learning for Life' scholarship program supports university and TAFE studies through a financial scholarship and through the opportunity for these students to have a mentor. The Tertiary Mentoring Program is designed to support the transition of university and TAFE students through their period of study and into the workforce. Scholarship students in their 1st year of study are matched with a career mentor who can offer an alternative avenue of support for these young people from financially disadvantaged backgrounds where it is not always possible to draw upon parental experience or social networks.     The School Volunteer Program

    WA Type of Program: One to One
    Location: Tuart Hill
    The School Volunteer Program is a very successful mentoring program that is currently in over 250 schools throughout Western Australia (also now in the ACT & rural NSW. ) This program utilises the wonderful resource of community volunteers who go into a primary or high school and mentor a young person one-on-one for a minimum of one hour per week. The SVP has been operating this program in WA since 1996 and has over 1700 volunteers assisting over 2000 young students annually who are having difficulty at school and whom are basically classified as "At Risk".     Youth Focus Mentoring Program

    WA Type of Program: One to One
    Location: Burswood
    The Mentor Program supports young people 14-18 years who are showing early signs associated with suicide, depression and self-harm. Mentors engage in 6 weeks of training, are police screened and then matched with a young person based on their interests, gender, location and ability to help meet the needs of the young person. A Youth Focus counsellor assesses the need for a mentor based on the young person’s goals and interests. [ more info... ]
