    Community Mentoring Program - Inner North

    Location: Greenacres
    Community Mentoring occurs at school, for one hour a week. The focus of this program is to support a young person who has been identified as being "at risk of leaving school early" and to support the transition of students from primary to secondary school. By sharing activities and exposing a young person to new experiences, the mentor encourages positive choices, promotes high self esteem, provides opportunities, supports academic achievement, and introduces the young person to new ideas.     The focus of this program is to support young people with transition to secondary school and within the years of secondary schooling; assist talented students by matching them with an expert in that particular field and to help all students to reach their full potiential.     Families SA Mentoring Program

    Mentoring is based on the development of a positive relationship between the young person and an adult. Through the mentoring relationship, they each make a commitment of time and energy to promote the young person’s personal, academic, or career development and social, athletic or artistic growth. The Mentoring Program provides young people with adult support and role models who will assist young people to: • develop positive relationships • develop trust • develop self confidence • receive honest feedback in a non threatening manner • develop a feeling of being valued for oneself • have someone to turn to in a crisis • improve relationships within their family and community The primary factors in matching young people with mentors are the interests, needs and goals of the young person.     Flinders University Transition Mentoring Program

    The Transition Mentor Program assists first-year students from the Southern region to settle in at Flinders University, and to have an enjoyable and rewarding time at the Uni. The Transition Mentor Program provides the new students with a Transition Mentor who can answer their questions and help them adjust to University life.     INSPIRE operates in the Southern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. The INSPIRE Peer Mentor Program (INSPIRE) is an innovative response to increase participation in education for children and young people who are identified as being 'at risk' of not completing their education.     The Julia Farr Association Youth Mentor Program is a 1:1 volunteer mentor program for young people living with a disability aged 11-16 years old who will be mentored by young adults aged 16-30 years living with a disability.     Whitelion Mentoring Program

    Location: Angle Park
    Leaving Care Mentoring Young people enter the Out-of-Home Care system through no fault of their own and have often experienced abuse and neglect. Many young people leaving Out-of-Home Care (when they turn 18 years old) lack any connection to their community and suffer from isolation and loneliness. The Whitelion Leaving Care Mentoring Program works with young people from 16 years of age and aims to match the young person with a mentor from the community before they become independent.     The West Coast Youth Services Youth Mentoring Project is a program initiated by Case Workers after identifying difficulties faced by our clients in succesfully transitioning towards independent living. It is based on our Belief Statement that "We believe every young person is a special individual who has the right to be listened to, respected, encouraged, Supported, Craed for, Loved Understood, Accepted and heard in a non-judgemental, unbiased, supported environment in their journey towards independence, adulthood and a succesful career" It aims to address the inequalities faced by young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The main purpose of the program is to give these individuals other experiences that they may not previously have had the opportunity to enjoy, such as someone being there to listen and be a good role model for them.
